This book is dedicated to all Hurricane Katrina Overcomers; to the memories of all who lost their lives through various forms of adversities (Plane crashes, bomb explosions, natural disasters such as Earthquakes, Tsunami tragedies, etc); to all those who are hurting and grieving as well as to everyone who professes Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

OVERCOMING AFFLICTIONS

Afflictions are unfavourable circumstances that cause pain, grief, trouble, distress, tragedy, misfortune, crisis, difficulties, hardship, etc. Every human being (except the dead) on Earth is susceptible to afflictions, even the Christian. Ps.34:19 unequivocally states that “many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivers him (the righteous) from them all”. Afflictions of life are man’s divine destiny. Perilous and tough times are inevitable. Afflictions are no respecter of persons. Even Jesus encountered trials and chal- lenges.

The good news is that God can and is willing to turn the afflic- tions of the Believer into fertilizer for his/her breakthrough. Afflictions are recipe for miracles. The hand of God’s deliverance is activated by our faith and by His mercy. God is never late. There is no problem that God cannot solve. Troubles don’t last forever. Darkness is not permanent. No condition is hopeless with the Lord. So never give up. Hold on to Jesus. He is greater than your troubles. Your Red Sea situation will divide and God will make a way of escape for you, and promote you. Do not faint in the day of adversity. Have confidence in God. He alone can guarantee vic- tory over life’s challenges.
