Uncertain cease-fire in the mid-east.
The cease-fire deal brokered by the United Nations Security Council surprisingly took effect on Monday 13th August 2006. It is incongruous and uncouth for Hezbollah, Iran, Syria or Israel to earnestly claim victory in the recent avoidable conflict while the pool of blood of over 1000 souls wail in utter anguish. One can only see the defeat of terror and the triumph of diplomacy. Nonetheless, it is apt to note the following:◘ That the cease- fire will unfortunately be temporal;
◘ That Hezbollah will not be disarmed by the Lebanese Government or the United Nations Intervention Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL): the disarmament of Hezbollah is a crucial part of the cease-fire agreement;
◘ That the 15000 Lebanese troops mandated to move into southern Lebanon (along with 15000 UN troops) will undoubtedly be infiltrated and made up of Hezbollah fighters and loyalists.
The mid-east is a volcano warming up for a gargantuan eruption. It is said that when two elephants fight, the grass suffers. Scores of innocent civilians, women and children in particular, have suffered the brunt of these protracted senseless mid-east conflicts which have always been inflamed by the embers of grave anti-Semitic hatred. The word of God reveals that the great battle of Megiddo is imminent. ARMAGEDDON is no myth! The book of Revelation brings to light the certainty of a final showdown and war between good and evil, between the army of God and that of the already disgraced and defeated forces of darkness in the great battle called ARMAGEDDON.
Armageddon is good news of prophesy for every believer. It is the English version of the Hebrew word har-megiddon where the word Megiddo is also derived. Megiddo refers to a hill or a mountain which is strategically located in northern Israel/Palestine. There have been several speculations on what could lead to Armageddon, a cataclysmic battle that will be centered in the middle-east but will involve the whole world. Many have been asking: will it originate through a nuclear warfare incensed and initiated by Iran or will it erupt by the mega explosion and collision of warring forces in a third world war?
